Hawkins Cookers Limited has been in business since 1959. Today, it has two offices, three factories and about 700 persons working. It is the leader in the pressure cooker market in India and has exported its products since 1974 to various countries in each of the six continents of the world.Hawkins has sold over 105 million pressure cookers and cookware worldwide. All Hawkins pressure cookers are listed by Underwriters Laboratories, USA, an independent Worldwide institution testing products for public safety. From February 1, 2021, the Government of India has made it mandatory to list all Pressure Cookers manufactured and sold in India with the Bureau of Indian Standards, commonly known as ISI. Hence additionally, all Pressure Cookers manufactured by us have certification of BIS and carry the ISI stamp mark too.

1. The role would involve deciding what data needs to be picked up, gathering of data and improving the quality of data. Market research on consumer behaviour is also in the ambit of this role.
2. The research can be initiated at any department of the organisation – Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, HR, Accounts.
3. A good understanding of statistics and current data management software is essential.
4. A basic common sense approach where causation and correlation are not confused will be useful.
5. The person must be numerate, must be able to understand and explain variations and trends and have an all-round understanding of different parts of the business.
6. Academic background of data analytics and hands on experience of use of data would be useful.
7. An exposure to statistics as well as a good understanding of spreadsheets is needed.
8. Data Analytics will deal with arriving at business insights based upon sales and offtake data, production and accounting data, and macro-economic data.
9. The role involves looking at data to identify opportunities, point out mistakes and pick out trends in consumer behavior which may be relevant to the Company.
10. Persons with a mathematics and statistics background, those who are able to work with various data management software, and those who are good at interpreting data may apply irrespective of their graduation background.
With more than ten crore customers and 10,000 dealers, about one lakh orders per year, we produce a lot of data. We want to use this data to better understand our consumers, our dealers, our quality problems, our opportunities, and our risks. We want the insights from data to give us managerial inputs into problems and opportunities.
